BOAT HANGAR, CULLY

2015 | Bourg-en-Lavaux | Special projects

Construction of a boat hangar

Located at the end of the Moratel beach in Cully (Commune of Bourg en Lavaux), downstream from the cantonal road and the CFF line for which a permit was obtained, this boathouse naturally finds its place in an alcove of greenery, outlined by existing walls to a height of around one meter, facing the lake.

Under the guidance of the Lavaux Consultative Commission, and in order to meet their expectations, particularly for the protection of Lavaux, a simple, traditional canopy on 4 pillars with a gable roof did not satisfy them, and was therefore deemed inappropriate to their aesthetic vision.

For this reason, a completely different design was devised, involving the creation of a monolithic structure with closed facades on three sides, set against the walls of the existing alcove. Accoya wood was chosen for both the vertical and sloping parts of the facades and roof, creating a monolithic appearance.
