2021 | Pully | Condominium building

Construction of a 7-unit condominium building

Replacing a building from the 1920s, this 5-storey south-facing building is located in a highly residential area in the higher ground of the Commune of Pully. It comprises 7 apartments, 2 on each floor and one on the top attic floor.

With exception of the penthouse, the apartments are symmetrical, with a mirror effect, allowing light to flood into the living rooms and onto the south-facing terraces and balconies.

The attic apartment, smaller than the other apartments, has a terrace all around and a magnificent view of the lake.

All daytime living spaces are south-facing and feature a generous balcony or terrace, allowing natural light to be an integral part of the project. This feature is accentuated by the choice of glass railings, which open up the view from the inside and, through their transparency, contrast with the slab heads, reinforcing their horizontality. The ground floor features an underground garage with space for 6 cars, extended by a basement extension housing a large independent garage.

The main difficulty with this project was the restricted and unique access to the plot, which demanded detailed and rigorous planning. The project was aligned with every boundary dictated by municipal regulations.
During the public inquiry and at the request of the neighbors, the existing tree in the south-west corner of the plot was preserved, and special attention was devoted to integrating this substantial new volume into the project, which resulted in the underground garage having to be modified to accommodate the roots of this coniferous tree.
